At first, it was running rough when hot, CEL was on, and oil pressure idiot gage would drop to zero when hot at an idle. Tested base oil pressure and ICP. Base pressure was good changed switch, all good now. When cold, ICP was good but low ICP code would always come back upon restart after clearing, changed sensor, all good now. Low ICP when hot and running rough. Changed standpipes and dummy plugs, almost all good now. That's the history of the past week.
Now, when hot, WOT up a hill, it popped a low ICP code. multiple WOT throttle runs uphill from 45 to 60, to 45 to 60 to 45 to 60 and the difference between desired and actual ICP kept growing larger. The last run was 1000 PSI difference. But no code.
Are we looking at an STC fitting, or could the pump have premature failure?
Thank you to anyone that has advice on fixing this.
Probably going to need to air test to find the issue, but the STC fitting is a likely possibility.
More likely than a HPOP, I guess.
Anything is possible. I just looked lookn '06 International 6.0 with no base oil pressure. Pulled the filter to check for flow and found sparkles in the filter. Like brass sparkles. Like pump brass sparkles. Not good.
