My update was completed by a local dealer today. We're towing our 5th wheel about 250 miles one way next week, so I plan to hook up the trailer tomorrow for a short spin to make sure that all is well. Since our brake controller problem was intermittent, I will be checking that it stops the trailer. I'll use this next trip to hopefully gain some confidence, but until then, I am going to be VERY cautious. I DO NOT like brake surprises when stopping these 16k pound behemoths.
It showed upon my Ford Pass..........called my dealer today, doing the upgrade next Saturday..........
I too have the notice on my Ford Pass app and on NHTSA site. I called my local dealer and was told until they (the local dealer) receives the recall instructions and I receive the letter, they (the dealer) can not perform a recall.......
I have a 2022 F350 LTD 6.7L DRW with a 2020 Montana HC 377FL 5th wheel (42ft 16.5k GVWR). Had a brake surprise on my way from Lake Mead NV to Parker AZ last week. We did a pull and brake test at low speed before leaving and things were fine, hit traffic on the way there and noticed that braking was extremely sluggish and it felt fairly dangerous for us to be driving without brakes on this beast but we fortunately we didn't have any steep declines and made it to our destination safely. Depressing the brake controller had zero effect, even after increasing gain to 10 and effort at "high"; in our previous two trips everything was working fine. To troubleshoot we confirmed that all lights were functional on the trailer, we wiggled the plug in and out, also hooked up a tester to the 7-way to confirm that all pins were functioning though we did notice that the "controller" light was a little dim. I have a mobile tech replacing the brake housings on the trailer now (pads were fine! doh!) and am just now finding this recall...
Scheduled a visit to to Ford this Friday, hopefully we can put this behind us once they update the software...
Just out of curiosity, is there a way to find out if the software update was actually installed? I look for version numbers in the firmware updates and was wondering if Forscan would be able to detect this for the Trailer Control Module?
We are back after the recall work. The nice lady at the Ford dealership mentioned that the recall had to do with reprogramming the TRM to restore the voltage levels on the brake controller back to normal after issues propped up due to a change to support a Canadian requirement that the voltage be reduced due to trailer lights that were too bright... Or something along those lines.
We are taking off on Sunday, hopefully the issue is resolved!

I think so. My truck was built after 02/15/22 but I wanted to make sure it had a revision later than DG. This is what I found looking at the TRM in Forescan. Mine is version DH, later than DG, so it's ok. If you had the software update performed, you could look at the TRM using Forescan to double check.

I wonder if it is some combination of the Part Number, Calibration Level and Strategy that determines whether the recall is needed. My TRM from FORScan shows the same Part Number as yours but my Strategy matches the Descriptive Information Part Number. I do have the TRM recall notice for my truck and it has NOT been done yet. If I was just going by the Part Number it would seem that my truck was not included in the recall. My 2022 F-250 was built December 19, 2021.

Thanks for the info. I'll try to get connected with Forscan tomorrow and see what the part number is for the TCM. Not sure if it's going to happen as I'm fighting off a damn Flu bug
