Thanks very much for this post. Mine is at the dealer right now for tire/wheel issues and I called them and said keep it until this update is done. The trailer I pull is 13,900. So this is a big deal.
EDIT - my wife just ran her 2021 F-150 XLT VIN and hers has the same recall. AND - her Ford Pass lists the recall where mine does not. Go figure.
I hate to say it, but I think your dealer might have been blowing smoke up your but. My dealer said he can do it, but he's booked solid for two weeks. That's probably the real issue at your dealer as well, but he should have at least let you make an appointment.
My dealer said the same. There are notes in their internal “Oasis” system from Ford that advise issues with some 2022 trucks, and specifically not to attempt to update any MY2022 vehicles. I had an appt yesterday but after speaking with the service manager, canceled and will reschedule.
I called my dealer last Friday for the heat shield recall and the trailer brake recall. Was assured they could take care of both. I explained about the trailer brake module reflash. He told me they had the new software. Made an appointment for Monday. Took it in and dropped off. Got a call in the afternoon that it was ready for pickup but the reflash wasn't done as they don't have the new software. They checked and said Ford hasn't finalized it yet. He told me he would call as soon as they got it. Was very apologetic. We'll see. If anyone gets theirs done I would hope they post here.
2022 F250 Platinum (6.7). Built 4 October. Trailer brake controller recall completed today by my dealer.
Curious if you really got the new software or a flash of the existing software as so many on various forums are reporting that the new software hasn't been released yet. I also was told that when my truck was in for service Monday. Did you get any paperwork for it that you can post for the rest of us? Thanks.

Thanks for the quick response. Just got off the phone with Ford. Multiple times on hold as they checked status of recall for Super Dutys. He stated that software for F-150 and Maverick was released the other day and software for Expedition and Navigator was released today. He was not showing anything yet for the Super Dutys. He started a ticket and advised to keep checking with the dealer. Oh well. Wait and see. I'll post back if I get the go a head for mine at my dealer. Hope everyone gets theirs resolved. My trailer is not that big, but i feel for those hauling large. Not a good thing to be losing your trailer brakes!
That was my experience on Monday. I hope this gets resolved soon.
Update is definitely available and mine is done. I called the dealer and they said the software is available to ALL dealers and there is even a code for them to charge Ford. He said dealers may not have checked for availability or playing games with customers as the notice is not being sent to customers for another 12 days. Bottom line is that mine is done and the dealers have it.
