I just saw an article that said there is a new recall for 2022 Super Duty (F-250 through F-550). This recall addresses a software issue that may prevent the trailer brakes from activating. It claimed that owners of affected vehicles will be notified starting April 18th. Looks to be an easy fix (Dealer re-flash).
I am subscribed to NHTSA to receive notifications for all our vehicles and received a notification for this recall yesterday. It’s NHTSA Recall ID Number 22V193, Manufacturer Recall 22S17. I called my dealer and they took my 2022 F350 without having received the actual recall notice from Ford. I was eager to get this reprogram done since we have had at least 2 occasions where I lost trailer brakes while towing our 2021 16,000 lb Montana 5th wheel. Last weekend, I took the wheels off an inspected the trailer brakes thinking that I had an issue. I am optimistically relieved that it might have been the trailer brake controller all along.
if you’re using your truck to pull heavy trailers, DO NOT WAIT FOR A RECALL TO BE RECEIVED, call your local dealer and get them to do the reprogram.
Here is the recall…

The recall mentions "2022-2022" models recalled for F250/350/450 but in the manufacturing info section it reads "Since Dec 2020".
Now I am confused if my early 2021 F350 is included or not. Somebody knows?

If there are no active recalls on your vehicle when using the NHTSA VIN lookup, you should at least receive a response reading something like "0 Unrepaired Recalls". That result could mean that the recall doesn't apply to your truck, or that the recall has already been performed. Either way, no action on your part.

Yes, but then it reads manufacturing with the problem started Dec 2020 which would include my truck.
Anyway, I just checked on the Ford web site and on the NHTSA web site and both do not show a recall for the VIN of my 2021 F350.
Well, at least not yet. I will be out for a 2-month trip mid April and hope it stays that way...
Thanks for sharing that web address! I also downloaded the NHTSA app called "SaferCar" which sends notices after you set up your vehicles.
The web site and app both show 2 recalls on my 2022 F-250. The first one is to fix a potentially loose underbody insulator, and the second one is the trailer brake module. Thanks to you guys I'm contacting my dealer tomorrow because we're pulling our fiver to the Smokies next week.
