brake controller in 05's
Can anyone on board find out for sure whether the new brake controller is compatible with the electric/hydraulic brake systems on some of the newer trailers. My 04 32' Newmar has hydraulic disc brakes that are controlled by a electric to hydraulic actuator. Most brake controllers will not work with this system and I would like to know if the tow command brake controller will work with my brakes. I want to order a new 05 but I can't get an answer from anyone at the dealer and Ford customer service can't help! Anyone?

Per the 2005 Ford Super-Duty owner's manual:
...The trailer brake controller can only be used with electric trailer brakes (one to four axles) and not surge or electric-over-hydraulic types as these may lose trailer braking ability. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the trailer brakes are functioning properly and all electrical connections are properly made...

Thanks Jeff for the reply, I can't help but wonder why Ford would have made a brake controller that would only work on one type of brake, although the most popular now, but electric/hydraulics are becoming more the norm with the larger trailers. I guess now I must go with the controller I have and hope that they still have the connector for the controller hook up behind the fuse dash panel opening as my 03 has. Kingfish, has used the new controller on a boat trailer that he says has electric/hydraulic brakes but how long it will work is a guess, and if something went wrong Ford would not fix it under warranty for sure. I had the Prodigy brake controller until I purchased my Newmar 32' fifth wheel, which has the electric/hydraulic disc brakes. It is not recomended for this braking system, as the controller searches for a ground connection and possible other reasons I'm not sure of. I'll stick with the Tekonsha Voyager brake controller on my new 05 when I get it! Thanks again!
