Please Help

I have a 2001 f350 7.3l. The truck originally went into the shop for an hpop reservoir reseal. The shop broke my timing cover by over tightening the bolt on the side of the reservoir. Long story short they refused to fix it and I took over the repair. The motor now has a new timing cover, hpop, lpop, oil cooler, cps, and oil switch. After getting everything back together and filling fluids, I topped off the hpop res, and now I'm stuck with a crank no start. The truck fires right up and runs for about 8 seconds after filling the res. I have tried doing cycles to prime the system, I have done a pickup tube test and checked to make sure the anti drain back check valve was still good. For some reason the res still will not hold oil over night and it will also not refill when cranking. Please any ideas of what to check or do. I could really use the help. I have never gotten this deep into diesel work and am beyond knowing what to do.

I literally said "oh my God..." when I read what the ~~shop~~ crooks did to your truck. It is too bad you had to deal with that, but lets see if we can get you going and on a more positive note from here on out.

Are you sure that they used the right gasket for the HPOP reservoir reseal?

See the link below for more details from an expert in this area. Another consideration is the LPOP, it should provide ~12 PSI at the HPOP reservoir plug if my memory is not failing me.

I used the gasket that shipped with the new cover. After the shop cracked the cover they didnt do anything else. I replaced the cover and oil cooler. When it didn't start up I began replacing the other listed parts.

Look at the LPOP. Make sure you didn't put the gears in backwards against the front cover. They only go in one way (correctly). The gears are marked for proper orientation.

I used a melling pump. It didn't have any marks to orient it as directional. I was told that they only have markings if it ford oem
