that's traditionally my go to as well but recently bent the hitch pin doing it that way. I think with the class 5 hitches having the larger 2.5 shank it's too much of a spread for the pin to hold up. I've done some flat out abusive pulls with a 2" hitch and never had an issue but pulling a guy out of a snow bank was enough to bend the pin in a 2.5" hitch

Always wondered that, but in some pretty extreme scenarios, I have never seen one bend. However, most of that was back in the day when everything was 2 inch. May have to re-think this with my 3 inch...
