Tool Kit for F150

I'm trying to put together an emergency tool kit for my Screw. Forgive me for sounding like an idiot should I outfit it with standard or metric sockets and wrenches?

Besides for the typical pliers, screw drivers & wrenches, what other tools and parts do you folks carry for emergencies?

All you need is a Cell Phone to call for assistance, I don't think that you will be changing anything major along side the road like the fuel pump for example!!

Cell phone. Good Idea. I still would like to know if the truck uses SAE or Metric sockets. Thanks.

your truck uses mostly metric sockets. i have tool box on my truck so i have more room, but i carry a shop manual, gloves, a plastic drop cloth in case i have to change a flat or get under the car where it is wet or muddy, a 5 inch flashilght and a small 6 volt spot light, a 6 inch cresent and a 12 inch cresent, an 18 inch long 2x8 board in case i need to jack up a wheel in mud (depending on where you live you may not need this), metric sockets and a few metric end wrenches, jumper cables, a few fuses, pair of needle nose plier + std pliers (regular size plus channel lock type), screwdrivers, a mulitiblade swiss army knife, a very small zip lock bag of meds and a roll of toilet paper (emergencies arent always mechanically related).

We make the instrument panels for the F-150 at the Visteon plant I work at and I know most of the screws in that use a 7mm socket. I can't vouch for the rest of the vehicle.

All that stuff sounds great to have, but where the heck do you put it? I have an Audiophile sub and amp under one side of the back seat, and the jack on the other. I don't believe there is any room under the front seats to speak of. ???

I have the same problem with the Sub. All the stuff that was under the seat of my old truck had no where to go so I went to Sears and got an $18 tool bag to hold everything and it sits behind me on the passengers floor board. If people need to get in the back it is easy to set between then on the floor. I keep bungee cords, rachet set, screw drivers, gloves, emergency flashlight, Tire pressure gauge, first aid kit and some other odds and ends.

Not a bad idea. All I know is that I'll throw away all my tools and call a tow truck before I get rid of my subwoofer.

Amen to that!. That Audiophile system is the best factory radio I have ever had and much better than alot of after market systems. With the road side assistance and the complecity of the trucks today there isn't much you can fix except a flat tire. That is why I get a new one every three years. They are still worth a good bit and the dealer has to fix them while all I do is change oil!
