Tailgate latch adjustment?

My tailgate is not releasing properly. It did initially work but now when I push the release one side clicks but the other will not release. Normally if I wait a few seconds and push it again it will release, but not always. Pitfa!

I've inspected, oiled, ... and I see nothing obvious wrong. How do I adjust the latches?

2022 platinum with step tailgate.

I have read others post up with a similar concern. I think one said that adjusting the catch/striker out, in small increments, on the side that is having issues, fixed it.

After about a week and a half I could not get mine to open. After beating the crap out of the passenger side (the side that was sticking on mine) I finally got it (even have a small dent now to remember the occurance), however, I still took it in the next day and told the dealership it needed adjusting. I don't know if they took the panel off the tailgate and adjusted it there, or if they just adjusted the catch bolt... I'm banking on they just adjusted (and most likely, just fully tightened) the catch bolt and threw some grease on it. It still caught just a little, so I ended up adjusting it a little more and so far I haven't had any more issues. Also, worth mentioning, try moving your truck and trying again... if it's adjusted too tight and the truck is not level, it could jamb up and keep it from opening. Good luck.

I had the same issue the auto lock would click and still the TG would not open. I took the panel off and adjusted the rod to the solenoid but noticed the rod to the side latches was bent. Straightened it and all is fine. It's like a 10 minute job to ze.get the panel off once you find the correct Torx. star tool size

Figures, worked first time today. Not done that for months.

I'll check the rod, thx. Then adjust as needed. I didn't know if there was an adjustment procedure.

Thx all.

Also had the same issue. Removed the cover plate and took some slack out of the rods at the actuator. Worked flawless since.

Took the tailgate panel off, 8 torx bolts, adjusted the pull rod that on the side that wasn't disengaging in farther making it shorter, now works. Those plastic clips make you wince as you undo them for fear of breaking them, why would they make them out of plastic?!

Whatever, it works now. Thanks to all that offered help.

Stuck 2022 F250 Tailgate

My tailgate stuck up yesterday after I closed it. I'd driven about 4 miles with the tailgate down so I could haul some 12' Hardi plank. Closed it and it "latched" kind of different. Would not open. Ends up the rubber bumper on the Pass. side had rotated down and jambed the TG just enough to bind the latch, Grabbed it with a set of needle nose Vice grips and really had to pull hard to get it loose. TG then opened. First picture is how it rotated down 2nd is normal position. Just FYI.

It's odd those little blocks are allowed to do that. I'm thinking of getting some black RTV and gluing mine in place so they don't move.
