78 Bronco clutch

I daily drive a 78 big bronco. 351M 4 sp. Recently shifting started to become hard. I best describe it as if I only had one more inch of pedal things would shift like normal. I think this means a clutch problem. yesterday I'm driving and I try to down shift into 2nd and no way she wont go in. I had to shut off the bronco, put it in gear and start it back up, limped it home and there she sits. Tonite I will go under and try to adjust something to get a little more movement of the clutch. Am I right in thinking its time to replace the clutch. I cannot confirm if its original or not. At this time there is no slipping or burning smell when I drive it. Thanks for any info.

More likely, it's the mechanical clutch linkage wearing out. I swapped a hydraulic system into my truck recently, and you can look thru the photos in my signature link. They'll at least show you what to look for.

I also had a problem several years ago with irregular clutch operation - it turned out to be the body mount under that corner of the cab allowing the body to rise when I pushed the pedal. Now, they're all polyurethane.
