Okay, sounds like Ford isn't really addressing the issue very well then. I retract my previous comment, It's money well spent to upgrade the factory POS-CAC.
So here’s a picture of the stock, plastic end. It does look similar to the one like posted above that blew out. Maybe there are some differences though?
Had the one on my 2015 explode about 2 years ago. Got a ford replacement as on the rd. Only replaced the top section and newer done the rest.
Anybody hear done similar or always replaced the lot.
Frank.
To me the main weakness is the single reinforced rubber hose. The HSM cold pipe I put on has 5 layers of reinforcement in a silicone hose, and the throttle body end is machined aluminum instead of plastic.
All of S&B Products that I have used have been great. I have used 2 of the fuel tanks for my past Power Strokes and have loved the ability to have 60 gallons of fuel when traveling and pulling. I have a New S&B tank sitting in my garage waiting to go on my 2022 SD when it arrives. Great customer service and the products are all well made and total quality.
That part where you "snugged up" the bottom clamp got my attention. I recently had a new water pump installed and while they had the truck I had them install an after market CAC tube. The manager said everything was done and he had driven the truck and all was well. The next day I had occasion to stand on it to merge in to traffic. BOOM, the bottom of the new pipe came off. Because it was the bottom end I was able to limp back to the RV. I was not happy but got it reinstalled and this time I tightened the clamp to a fair thee well. It has withstood a bunch of hard accelerations as I keep trying to find the cause of my over boost. You might want to give it a test.
