Had just got a new set of boots from diesel site. Well the other day i had got on it and i heard a pop and then no boost so limped it home and took a look. It had blown the intercooler pipe clear out of the boot. So is there any suggestions on how to keep this from happening again double clamping the boots maybe. I had also painted the pipes with the install of the new boots. Any suggestion would be appricated. Thanks.
Could be a simple issue of not having it slid on far enough or clamped tight enough. Clean it good and some spray some hairspray on it before reinstalling it. Tighten everything up good and try again. Shouldn't have to do anything special.
did it to me the other night after foil delete and i just loosend up that clamp and moved it back a lil' ways and i shoved that pipe in there as far as i could then tightend it back with a 1/4 inch ratchet to keep from over tightn it. i can feel about 1/2 inch or more of pipe INSIDE the boot. i've checked it every day just to make shure. I have heard about the hairspray and it does work
If you just blew the pipe out of the boot, bigsteve has the right idea. Clean everything up real well and apply hairspray before reassembling (having a 19 year old daughter I'm set in this department). Check all 6 of your boots periodically. I recently discovered some loose CAC boots on my truck.
Forgive me for being a complete rookie but where are the other two? The reason I ask is I suspect I have a boost leak and checked the 4 this weekend. Just wondering where else to check....

There's 2 on top and easily visible. Two down by the radiator at the the other end of the tubes, and the last 2 are underneath the spider (y-shaped thing with the top boots that are easily visible. The last ones are the hot side and take a 5/16 bit to tighten them. They are supposed to be Orange, but mine were camouflaged in a nice layer of oily gunk.
If that doesn't help let me know and I'll post a pic.
A pic would be awesome. I am at the office and will not have a chance to look at my truck till later. A pic is a good visual reference for later. Thanks again!
I will look at those tonight. I have this sound that others on the board have led me to believe is a boost leak somewhere. Its something between a shh, shh, shh sound and a tick, tick, tick that increases in tempo with RPM. Plus I got a P1249 Wastegate steady steady state test fail code.
