PP is pressure plate (bolts). I'm wondering if it has an 11" pressure plate and a 10" clutch disc? The flywheel surface has a "funny" look to it. - Bob
The flywheel appears to me to be drilled for a 10" PP, but you're right about the wear area being awfully close to the bolts. 11" disc with 10" PP? Here is my flywheel, drilled for 10" PP. An 11" drilling is almost on the edge. Flywheel drilled for 10" PP
This is a poor pic but shows the wear area for a 10" PP with 10" disc, relative to the PP bolt holes
You guys are very observant.
I did keep the pressure plate and clutch for now. I pulled the water pumps today. Took me quite a while to figure out the hidden bolt inside the housing at the top. I kept all the bolts from disassembly.
Thanks for the suggestions.
The preesure plate measures out at 11 inches in diameter.
All salvaged parts are degreased, except oil pan. I rust treated them and will spritz them all with WD40 before storing them.
On to the next carcass.
Those headers look to be "truck" manifolds and can be 7RT-9430/1 or 21A-9430/1. Antidotal evidence leads some to believe that some our trucks came from the factory with 7RT-9430 on the right and a 21A-9431 on the left.
Those manifolds look great. Shame about the block though, I wonder how a hole that big in the cylinder developed?
JB
I was wondering if water sat above the piston and froze in the cylinder? It is only in the one cylinder that I could tell. I didn't look that hard after finding the first one.
Thanks for the info on manifolds. The original (cracked) engine in my 52 MH had the 7RT and 21A manifolds. Bought a pair at a swap meet, same thing. Bought a 25,000 mile running pickup for parts. This engine has mismatched manifolds as well. It has a replacement carb and fuel pump, but standard pistons and bearings. I doubt the manifolds were molested. Thinking that is how some came.
