Noticed the '17 is running software version 2.0. The auto update options menu was disabled, would there be any benefits getting the latest (3.0??). Or leave it the way it is.
I think the latest is actually 3.4.
I would get it if it is possible for not too much money.
That would be for 2020+. 3.0 is the highest for the 17-19 Sync 3.
I have done two Sync 3 updates since owning my '19, I can't say that I've actually noticed a difference, although there is probably some benefit to doing it. The last Nav update required that I first update Sync to the newest version.
There is a guy on you tube (colts way) that takes 3.0 up to 3.4 for his '18, but it just looks like different graphics like the newer trucks. If that's all it is ill leave it alone.

That is possible, and there are threads on here discussing how, but it's not something Ford facilitates.
They list some of the pluses here. https://cyanlabs.net/tutorials/windows-automated-method-update-to-3-4/
With 35 years of integration testing (where software is install onto the hardware and tested to requirements) for places like AT&T, GE, Hitachi and others I can tell you there's nothing like a new revision of software to screw everything up. Just let it be if it works.
