Anyone else just get a notice about a navigation update for sync 3? You can pay $40 + shipping for them to send you a USB with the update or download a 15G file for free. I have no problem downloading a file that large, just wondering if anyone else has done this update before and how it went for you?
I've been loathe to do any updates, because right now everything works. Firmware upgrades make me nervous on such important things as the sync system. If that goes down, so many things go with it.
I just went out to load the update into the truck but got an error message. It says to download files again and retry install. If that doesn't work to note the code and call customer service. That is a number you call if you want to be that much more frustrated. Last time I called them they gave me a phone number to Lincoln, not the most helpful people.
Where is that located? Syncnavigation.com is where the download comes from, there might be info there.
I just looked at it and didn't see the build number.
Reason I was asking is I wanted to see how it compared to the Sync 3.4 with 1.19 maps I just installed in my '18.

Mine is running Sync 3.0 and Nav version NA 1 17. So this update could be the one you already have. If I can get it to work Ill let you know. Pretty sure someone else will get it to work first.
The update notice I got (2020 F350) says the update requires sync 3.3 or higher. I have downloaded it, they are serious about it taking 1.5hrs to download on the computer, but haven’t tried to install it yet.

Thanks, my Nav is 1.19. My Sync is 3.4.. 19200 I believe, could be higher. I'll check when I get back home.
The map update download for me was less than 20min, but have a gig line (son was streaming & wife was online working at time). I installed the USB on the way out of the house this morning and it updated without issue during my commute. It took the maps from NA 1.17 to 1.19. My Sync version was already "up to date" on the 2019 F450 at version 3.0.1925.
After recieving the error message on my first attempt yesterday I reloaded the USB and installed the update today without issue.
The long download time (slow interenet) I dont mind, or the hour it takes to transfer to the USB from the computer. The dang long install time to the truck was the worst part. The truck has to be running the whole time, so that means well over an hour of idling or driving around wasting fuel. Unless of course you have somewhere to drive anyway, that is over an hour away. You would think they could come up with a way that doesn't require the trucks engine to actually be running.
Like the post above, my Sync 3.0 was already up to date and the Nav went from 1 17 to 1 19.
