Window Channels

I'm starting the door work on my '65 project. Everything stripped out, paint is stripped off the inside and metal etch primer applied.
Window risers for both sides are FUBAR. One locked up solid from rust and crud, and both have the splines on the crank handle shafts stripped off. I have a power window kit on the way. I wasn't gonna go that route, but regulators are priced at about $130-140 each, but no one has them. Even if they did, it would be $280 for the pair, plus handles. Power window kit was about $150 more. Easy decision for me. Wifey agrees.
The inside door latch mechanism... same deal. Stripped off handle shafts. But that's an easy non-stock fix. I have a plan for that
The door latches themselves are in good shape.

The window channels....
No one that I have looked at has the division bar in stock. Not even in the complete kits that do both doors. The rest of the stuff is readily available individually though.
So here's the BigQuestion.....Is -re-channeling the fuzzy liner in the division bar do-able?
At this point I'm glad I didn't throw 'em away thinkin' I would just buy new stuff.

Wow. I appreciate the lead ibuzzard!
I reckon I should check ebay more often. The price is right, so I'll get these ordered up.

The rest of the stuff for the windows seem to be readily available from multiple sources.
I actually did find a youtube video of a guy who lined his existing division bars with fuzzy velcro. I was just now dinkin' around with one of 'em to see what was involved.
They need a lot of other work besides that though, so getting these will be the better option.
I appreciate the legwork!

Mike, I'm not sure how many people do this, but I did re-line my division bars and also the window channels around the back of each door on my 66 F100. I bought a roll of mohair. I got mine from RTRW. I cut it to width and length and used seal adhesive. Not sure how long it will last. Just put mine in a couple months ago. So far so good. I just couldn't spring for those expensive division bars or channels, when mine were structurally decent. I did repaint both of mine first. It makes it a little tighter for the window, which could be a problem for the electric window mechanism.

I do not consider 100.00 expensive. Not in the 2020’s, maybe in the 1970’s. That’s the price of a couple of fat , prime beef ribeye steaks . Just eat hamburger for a couple weeks.

Mohair? Glueing? No rubber backing? No thanks, I’ll do it the right way.

There's a method for every madness. There are those that would not consider spending a hundred bucks on anything on an old "derelict" vehicle. Yet here we are!
I am a tight-wad at heart. But I also throw stupid money at some of my projects. It kinda depends on the time/cost/availability factor. This is one of those times where the time and effort are a bit too much, at least for me at this time. And, I'm really not in much of a hurry. As is often said, "The Juice Ain't Worth the Squeeze!"
Now in the total absence of availability, I would make the effort. But thanks to networking with like minded people like ibuzzard, an answer has been provided! Paul has provided a path for those with tighter budgets and it's ALL good!

However.....$100 for a pair of nice thick rib-eyes? Mouth watering...yes. But a bit too rich for me. Having been to a few high-falootin' steak houses in my time, it just ain't my thing.
That is four pounds of prime in todays market. I'd ruther buy the steaks at the local meat market, season to taste and grill 'em at home exactly how we like 'em over pecan wood, and be into it for about $30 for enough to make a meal for wifey and I.
That there is where the juice is definitely worth the squeeze!'

.
Which power window kit did you settle on? I've been looking around to upgrade to power as well. Thanks in advance.

The kit from NuRelics came highly recommended. More money than the kit from Carolina Classics, which is not in stock anyway, and way less than CJ Pony Parts. Lifetime warrantee and in stock. At least for the moment. I think they had three kits in stock when I hit the "buy" button. Power window kits for classic vehicles is all they do. The same motor seems to used in all, so parts and repairs should be easily facilitated.

Now I have not installed it yet, so only time will tell there. But shipped out the same day it was ordered, and showed up in four days from coast to coast.

Well Mikey, not sure where in Cali you live, but 25.00 for Prime ribeye steaks is a myth, in these parts. Prime beef of any kind is not easy to find. At Costco, it was close to 38.00 lb. for those 11/2 inch thick steaks last time I checked. I can easily polish off a 16 oz. slab of beef myself.

Anyway, FTE members are famously cheap, nearly always claiming poverty. I find that, in the end, people spend their money on what’s important to them. When truly “up against the wall”
(Redneck Mother), those claimed non-existant funds miraculously appear. And I’ve not failed to notice that some of these same paupers wouldn’t dream of foregoing their nightly six or 12 pack, or a carton of smokes.

My truck’s important to me, I use it. I won’t dick around with half fast solutions.

We have a place here in town called (of all things) "The Meat Market."
Prime ribeye is currently a little more than $25/lb. They don't sell "Choice"

Here in Central California, it is the center of agriculture in the state. Maybe that has something to do with it

Costco is pretty dang pricey on most of their meat in my experience. Sometimes, they have some meat on sale. A couple weeks back I happened on some really nice 1 1/2" pork chops for $4/lb. On the traeger, they were as tender, juicy and flavorful as a good steak.

But man, I was able to do a 16 ounce steak when I was your. These days, 10 or 12 ounces finishes me off!

You must be near Fresno, then. I’m just up the road from you, and we were, in fact, in Fresno yesterday. Will check out that meat market next trip down off the mountain. I am nearly 62, cannot imagine not being able to polish off a 16 oz steak at any age, though.
