Power Window Dilema

Power window on the 92 drivers side will bind when rolling down. It appears to twist at the outside (stays up) while the inside goes down. If I push down on the window it works fine. I have taken off the door panel but cannot see anything broken or let go. The window seems loose in but as said everything looks fine. Anyone else had this problem and maybe shed some light?

My 93 Aerostar did the same thing a few years back. I bought a can of silicon spray and sprayed around the door frames along the furry felt. It has been many years since the symptoms came back. I believed the felt just dried up and binded the glass on the way up and down.

Good luck.

I had the same thing happening on mine recently.I used armorall on the fuzzy stuff and after a few times they all work nice and slick now.You will just have to give the window a good cleaning once to get any excess off.P.S.-used the same stuff on the weather stripping for the sliding door and now it never freezes up in the crappy(cold) weather.

my 91 did the same thing, for a long time i used lubricant as described. after i got tired of that i ordered new window trim from ford.(my passenger door also lacked the bottom strip that keeps rain out of the inner door. after replacing it , the window would go down ok, but was very slow going up #!! when i broke down and visited my local ford dealer about another issue they checked out the window too. ford said my regulator (window motor was weak ). so they lubed it up while they had the panel off. now it slows going up at the top, but still works. go figure rick

I had the exact same problem two years ago. It would work fine when it rained which we get a lot of here in B.C.
Spray the hell out of the furry felt with a (pure) silicone spray down both guides.
While your doing this, spray the otherside as well.
I have read other posts where this has resulted in motors being strained and then needing to be replaced.
Good Luck-Happy New Year!

I had the same thing on my '97. I took a wide screwdriver and pried the channel back to the correct width and both windows now go up and down smooth and fast.
If there is a narrow area in the channels the windows bind and slows the motor down. An easy fix.
