I am ready to put the windows and latches back in the doors of my 78 F150 after paint and am wondering what order to do it in. I am assuming the wing window goes in first, but then what. Does the window go in before the latch & rods or vice versa? Wanted to ask before I jumped into it. Thanks!
The window needs to go in before the wing window. I would leave everything else out until the windows are in.
Make sure you put a few layers of painters tape along the edge where the window slides in, on both sides so you don't scratch the crap out of the new paint.
The big window is not hard but the wing window is a PITA. There is only one way it will go in and it is a tight fit. If you have an old door practice on it.
Maybe someone on here that knows how to do it can post a video? I am not looking forward to putting mine back in.
I'd suggest that the window rubber and felt ( at the bottom of the window) go in before the window glass. The rubber goes out and the felt goes inside. They snap into place fairly easy. I goofed ? put the rubbers on 1 door and the felt on the other - THEN realised to mistake. < trying to hurry a job].
You can put everything back in the door first regulators window track ect... the big window goes in first then roll it all the way down before you try and put the wing window in. the wing window will go in at an angle and slide in the door frame, it is tight but you should have plenty of room. I installed auto glass for about 10 years and did plenty of these after you get the first one you wont have a problem again. if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.
