ok so i have a 1974 f100 and when i bought it the previous owner busted the drivers side door window out of it. i ordered a new window and it arrived today. i saw i had to take the vent window out to do it. is that just those three screws on the inside of the door? and also those bolts near the bottom of the door? my other question was that i had started to pull the vent window out and for some reason i started pulling the vent window rubber out(its pretty messed up anyways). is there a weatherstripping kit i can buy to replace the door rubber and the window rubber? also is this all i need to do to install the door glass? i tried putting the rubber back into the vent window tracks and it wouldnt seat right so do i need a special tool or is just because the rubber is old is the reason its struggling going in. thanks
Not sure on rock auto but when I shopped them all BGY was the best value. I think I paid $250 shipped for the kit with no windshield chrome. The quality of the seals feels excellent. Not sure of the COO but I'm happy with the seals. Precision brand kit.
I purchased a full kit from (I think, it's been several years) NPD. Most of the pieces were in Precision bags. I just installed it in December. All pieces fit right and made a world of difference in the wind noise and window rattling. Not sure why you can't get the vent window rubber in, I didn't need any special tool, but 40+ year old rubber might be a different story.
ok thanks guys. do yall have any tips on how to get that bottom screw out for the vent window on the side of the door? my screwdriver is too long so do you have to use a short one?
I was going to suggest youtube and the precision videos somebody also suggested. Great how to videos for our trucks. My truck is a neglected mess and I need all rubber so I will buy a kit. Just curious what you all think about differences in companies like Mac, NPD, Dennis Carpenter, Broncograveyard ( I think they use Precision). LMC, etc etc. I'm about done price comparing individual pieces, kits, prices between companies. They all pretty close in price give or take a few $. Then shipping costs etc. I thought I read one of the company's used Carpenter. Others thought it was poor quality etc. So anyone unhappy with a particular company, or happy with another????
Im in the process right now ,passenger side done, sent my wing window out had it powdered satin black, went with all precision parts ,quality is excellent,,,,I would suggest getting plastic tools from precision, for new wing window rubber replacement and silicon gel ,it never looked so good anti rattle kit was Carpenters and felts
