I'm wondering if the numbers I'm seeing FORScan report are considered "healthy" for a completely bone stock cooling system.
This was after driving for about 40 minutes, mostly cruising around 60MPH with a couple short WOT runs from 40-70MPH. Ambient temp was around 30F outside.
After getting home, truck was idling and I took this screenshot showing an ECT of 102F and an EOT of 170F.
That delta of almost 70F seems like a lot, I'd think the coolant should be helping lower the engine temps a bit more, but maybe there's a bottom threshold where the EOT just can't get much lower?
I have driven it in warmer temps (70F but it was before I was using FORScan) and the dash temp gauge always remained very low on the scale, truck is not overheating as far as I know.
Could this be considered normal for the conditions?
EOT is already up on the FORScan dashboard at 170F, so the ECT seems to be something else. Plus I doubt the oil temp is only 102 after 40 min of driving?
I thought 190-200 is the goal for most diesels. My CR cummins drives highway mid 190s coolant temp. Not sure on oil temp but certainly not far from that. depending on ambient temperature. 7.3 did 198 oil temp almost always
