The plug on my van looks a bit different than the photo but in the same location. I timed the engine to 10 degrees TDC. Reconnected the plug then checked the timing. The timing mark was showing to the left of 10 degree mark. Is that what it should read with the wire plugged in?
Yes econo93. I first tried to post on that thread but it wouldn't let me. I don't know why.
The plug is not square but more like cigar shaped. I timed the engine and lined up the marks at 10 degrees BTDC. Reconnected the plug and checked timing. The mark moved to the left of the 10 degree mark. I'm wondering if it is supposed to that.
The early spout plugs were round and had to be pulled apart
The movement to the left is normal indicating that the timing advanced some as soon as you reconnected the spout
That means it is working correctly
You'd be surprised to see just how much timing the processor gives it at times
Thanks for the info. Good to know it's working correctly. The engine is running smooth and quiet. I installed new timing gears replacing the fiber cam gear with aluminum gear and steel crank gear. I read that it would be noisier but I don't notice any change.
