Timing Plug?
I have a 97 Ranger 4X2, with a 2.3L and 5 spd manual. Couple of years ago, I was in Mexico and the truck was running pretty bad on the gas down there. A Ford mechanic said to pull the timing plug on the firewall and it would retard the timing 3 degrees. So I did so, and the truck ran quite a bit better. Well, now that I'm in the states, and running 10% ethanol, I figure I could put it back on.
However, I lost the darn thing. Can anybody tell me whether this little plug is just a jumper, or a resistor. This shorting plug fits in a 2 pin socket that hangs off the wiring harness where it goes across the back of the engine.
