Spout Plug fro Timing

Where is the spout plug you are supposed to unplug to set the timing on a 1994 5.8???

It is below the drivers side hood hinge.. at least that is where it is on a 97 250HD OBS

Your Spout Plug will usually be located directly under your OBD I Test Port.

And your Spout Plug will look like this.

Ok not to hijack on the tread but what if you can't find that where it's suppose to be. i've looked there and by the distributor and all over and can't find anything that looks like that.

On my 91 302 the spout plug is right by the distributor, although there is a connector by the drivers side door hinge that has the same connection/connector as the spout plug by the distributor....are there two spout plugs?

So..what happens if you set the timing at 10 deg BTDC with a warmed up engine at normal idle speed, and the spout connected?

Because that's what I did after I put a new timing gear in (4 deg advanced). Truck has never run better. I guess I forgot about this SPOUT thing. Is my timing retarded more than it should be?
