fuel pressure regulator issues???

hey all, im running a '97 f350 powerstroke, auto, 4x4, its blue

it seems to me that fuel is not making it from the fuel bowl to the injectors. i have verified that the fuel pump is filling the bowl. recent fuel filter, good fuses, full of oil, wts light works.

i recently rebuilt the fuel bowl and fpr with new hoses and o-rings from riff raff. put on about 1000 miles, no issues. new fuel filter at that time.

i noticed my fuel economy getting worse and found a small fuel leak in the return line near the front tire. so i ordered both hard lines that run up the block and both braided lines that go down by the tire. unbolted a bunch of stuff and got them replaced, put it back together and broke the top off the icp sensor accidently, replaced on that. now i cant get the pickup to start or even really fire.

i do not have any pressure on the schrader valve on the fpr. can a fuel pump fill the bowl and still be bad?

thanks in advance for your help

The fuel pump is dual purpose. Low pressure moves fuel to filter assy. The other part makes the high pressure side supply pressure to the cylinder heads. As long as filter assy has fuel in it there should be high pressure presenting at Schrader if pump is good.

Remember you gotta check it while someone is cranking because the pump is mechanical and works off engine rotation. If you have no pressure your pump is probably bad

update:

i replaced the fuel pump, no change. i ran it off a bucket of fuel with just a hose straight off the fuel pump and everything worked; fuel pressure at schrader valve and everything. so we figured there must be a restriction in the fuel line back to the tank.

ive only ever used the front tank on this rig, so i dropped the tank, took all the lines loose, took out the switching valve thing, pulled the sending unit; screen was intact.

i cant seem to find any issues with anything. any suggestions?

While you have everything apart blow air through all the lines and make sure you get a good flow through each one. I’d replace the pickup in the tank if you haven’t already

Subscribing. This is similar to what happened to my truck.

Is there a good way to check pressure going into the pump (low pressure) and going to the heads(supply, not return)
