Low Fuel Pressure

2002 F-350 4x4 Dually 340,000 miles

Having issues with Low fuel pressure. What I have done so far...... I have a new pump on it (same results from both pumps, which are Bosch pumps ). I have the gauge connected on the pre filter port on the fuel bowl. I am only getting 30 PSI. I have already tried using a clean unrestricted fuel source ( i.e. fuel can ) connected directly to the pump. Still can only get 30 - 35 PSI pre filter. Anything else I need to check. And where do I go from here? I have tried searching other threads but solutions are few and far between when people get stuff fixed.

Thanks in advance.

First verify 12v across the pump leads while under load.
Second check there are no obstructions between the pump and fuel bowl.

Yep, fuel pressure regulator on the side of the fuel bowl is in the game.

I checked the voltage already under a load and it is fine. I will recheck for obstructions and also change the FPR spring tomorrow. Keep the ideas coming. I am having a major brain fart right now.

Sure sounds like the fpr is suspect. Could have some internal damage or wear. Might consider a riff raff frx

The FPR is making more and more sense. When I was sucking fuel out of a fuel can it sucked a full 1 ½ gallons in really quick. Like less than 2 minutes. If the FPR wasn't working it would be returning more fuel than it is supposed to therefore causing low fuel pressure correct?

You can install a BB under the spring to raise pressure. If too much, cut a coil then recheck..

This is the most common FPR failure and shimming the spring will not help.

If this is your problem, here’s a source for the parts you’ll need.

https://www.dieselorings.com/7-028-f...build-kit.html

You’lll also need the vibraloc sleeve for return line.
