im new to the diesel world. I’m going to change my coolant which is green. I read that you need to add FE-15 to coolant. I also have read if you use Rotella coolant or the International red coolant that additive has already been added. Can someone please clear this up
I use the normal green stuff and add in SCA
Some coolant types have the SCA in it already
Why SCA? its a wetting agent that prevent cavitation that will eat the cylinder walls from the outside in
get some strips too https://www.acustrip.com/sca.html
This is what you want if you aren't interested in adding or checking levels. You can run this for 36K w/o worry. Replace it at that time or check the SCA levels.

Here's my review:
This type of antifreeze is what Ford recommends for my 1995 F-250 7.3 Power Stroke. This is already pre-mixed w/sca additives at the start. I'll have to test SCA levels at 15,000 miles. If there is anything you can do for your engine it's getting the proper coolant for which your engine was made for. This antifreeze meets ford specification ESE-M97B44-A. I installed a flush kit to fully flush my antifreeze system & installed a brand new radiator (not needed unless you have problem) to get all the old junk out. Advance had a good price w/discount.
Do not kid yourself. Here is my filter I just opened yesterday, one of the first things I did was flush my system and fill with 50/50 Fleetcharge and distilled. I ran this filter for one year, about 10k miles I guess.
That's incredible... Makes you wonder why auto's don't come with a coolant filter as standard equipment. When I took my old radiator & (Bad) fan clutch it was pretty gunky looking too & 255k miles I bet It would of done some damage to a filter. I'm glad I replaced the radiator but I'm sure my heater core etc has junk in it. It's amazing to think how in the world so much dirt get's inside the system but If you think about it...I think the coolant has the most miles if you think about the whole circulation through motor, water pump, hoses, radiator, more hoses, heater core, repeat lol
I've read that the crap in our cooling systems is from the factory's casting process when making the block. According to this theory, the block is not cleaned very much after it is cast, so a lot of the sand-like material is left to circulate in the cooling system when the engine is completed. It is also said that a coolant filter will do the most good when it is first put on, and that as the factory crap is gradually removed, the subsequent filters have less-and-less work to do. Money back guarantee on this information.
Yes that sand is like sand paper with-out the paper. It will slowly tear away the seal on the pump shaft & then you will have a leak ,1st @ the weep hole. You may also start to smell the anti freeze after shutting down the engine . [After a hot drive]
