MBRP Exhaust Tips
I had looked at these a long time back, back when I was in the process of ordering my truck.
I had decided I didn't like the way the stock exhaust tips stuck out in the middle of these where you could see them.
And, the other guy who bought a set was in similar agreement, but he posted a pic of them where they were not slid all the way onto the stock pipes, and you couldn't see the stock pipes sticking out in the middle of them near as much. I thought they looked pretty good like that, and thought that you could even cut the stock pipes back so they stuck out even less, and then you could paint the stock pipes black to make them even more unobtrusive.
Anyway, I decided I would go ahead and try them out for myself. I had a few amazon gift cards from Christmas, just laying there burning a hole in my account, so I decided to use the credit on a set of these tips.
Now, I'm old school, so I bought polished tips instead of black, plus everything on my Iconic Silver truck is bright or chrome, so they go with the theme.
I have only loosely fit the tips so far, and am going to at least paint the stock pipes black, not sure if I will cut them back yet, will wait to see how it looks with them just painted black. If they are not too obvious, I may just go with painted but not cut off stock pipes.
I am also going to paint the inside end of the tips black to make them blend in with the black painted stock pipes, also thinking about painting the inside of the tips black.
I also really like them sticking out further than the stock pipes, I have them set even with how far the mud flaps stick out, so they really don't look like they are way out there.
Pics of the trial fitment.
Just waiting for the paint to dry so I can strip the masking and assemble it all, will have pics soon.
I am liking it pretty well, we'll see how it holds up over time.
First, a pic for @Reb2973 of the oem exhaust tips painted black, inside and out. The painted oem tips is definitely the least anyone should do before adding these MBRP accessory tips, whether you get black or polished tips. A lot of you guys will probably like just the black painted oem tips.
Next, I want to show a pic of my polished tips, showing the area of the end of the tips that I painted black, this keeps the oem tip material from showing up through the vent holes in the MBRP tips. It also shows how far out I have the tips mounted, the red arrows showing the vent holes in the MBRP tips, the green arrows showing the vent hole location in the oem tips. So, the MBRP tips are mounted about an inch or just a shade more further out than MBRP intends, but it keeps the oem vents open, so will still operate as intended.
The other thing I am going to do is add some nuts on the bottom end of those allen bolts in the clamp on the side of the tips, there is nothing much keeping them from backing out.
This is the best looking view of the new tips, looks really good IMO.
I ended up painting the inside of the polished tips, looks much better that way.
This is a view from straight on, you can see the oem tips in there, but with everything inside the MBRP tips painted black, it is much less obvious. And, of course, this view is with bright sunshine lighting it up, in normal lighting, and not from straight on, you see much less of the oem tips.
Now I just need to get out there and wash the truck and get off all the crud from up in the "great white north" that I brought home with me!
I sent them a link to this thread, and they emailed me back and thanked me, said they enjoyed seeing how customers used and even modified their products and offered me a free t-shirt or hat!
I replied with a thank you, with my t-shirt size and address, also said I'd take either one, hat or shirt, or both!
Just got a shipping notification from FEDEX that whatever they are sending me is on the way and will be here next Tuesday.
So, guess we'll see what they send, but pretty cool of them.
Also, I didn't know this before, but they are in Canada.

Doggone nice of them!
Wish every company I contacted with feedback on their products was as thoughtful.

At least that's what I read on the internet!

Totally cosmetic addition.
I thought you only got those performance gains if you added the turbo whistle 😀
