Mine was working at first, then started kicking off by itself, later it quit altogether without even the light flickering.
I changed this switch out and now it woks perfectly. Hoping the same happens for you.
New to this website. Just got the last truck the father in-law drove before he passed. It's got it's issues . This being 1. Hoping to get this straightened out 1 step at a time . This is a starting place . Thanks for the info.
Well Jim got that switch in changed it out and still no luck. So went to part store to get the rear end switch and changed it out and still no luck. Horn works good but no light comes up on dash when I turn the key on that even says CRUISE so wondering if it my be a computer problem are something. I only have 64,000 miles on this 2001 F250 4 door 7.3 diesel truck and it stays in my big shop most of time till I get another camper. I put a new valve boby in it when I dropped transmission to change out the front seal on it and I really like the way it shifts now. Thanks again for the reply. AL
That's right Jim have taking it out each time I change stuff to see what it does and has been same thing, nothing. I'm not one to pay someone else to do what I can do myself plus get more out of it in long run. Thanks again.
Sorry to hear it didn't help.
I started by changing the brake pedal sensor and got nothing, then when to the sensor on the master cylinder.
Checking the notes and receipts from the previous owner I found he had changed out the switches on the steering wheel. Must be he was having trouble with the Cruise Control as well, though when I got the truck the CC seemed to be working but only intermittently.
Have you checked for power at the sensor you just changed?
Yes I have power at both of them that I just change out. I ohm out the button connection at the plug with it under the dash and seems the clock spring is working getting good ohms with both the ends. And while I have it hooked up I would turn the steering wheel in both direction to make sure it doesn't have a break in wires some where. But I will keep looking till I find something are before I take it in to get ford to hook there computer up to it and make sure it is turned on. Thanks for the reply back.
Did you try the Cruise Control Self Diagnosis test?
I couldn't get it to work on mine but haven't tried it since I got the Cruise Control working again.

I remember seeing it . I just don't know if I preformed it correctly. I did replace the brake like switch tonight to no avail. That didn't fix it . I think I need to say what I know what else that doesn't work. This " might " , help others help me .
Driver side window doesn't work
remote mirrors ( both ) don't work
cruise doesn't work
auxiliary brake box doesn't work
Oh ! And the overdrive off switch doesn't work.
I did several things to get things working.
The bulbs at the rear cab top need to work.
I replaced the brake pedal position switch.
I replaced the pressure switch on the brake master cylinder.
That last changed finally got my CC working again. The brake pedal is still kinda sensitive though...
I didn't know that the 3rd light had anything to do with the cruise control not working will have to look at that today when I get home. Don't remember if I seen it working since I have a camper shell on the truck. Thanks

It is not necessary for the 3rd brake light on an 01 Super Duty to be working for the speed control to work unless you have a diesel.
