The only problem with using an island is having to run the power lines. Although that could be done on Treasure Island, since the Oakland Bay Bridge can accommodate electrical conduits to feed both sides, San Francisco and Oakland. It would only take 50 years of environmental impact studies.

The upcoming micro-nukes may change the whole thing. They are talking about modern-design nuclear power plants the size of a house. They will be modular, and can be trucked onto a site.

Anything that improves the situation is ok in my book.

Whoo Hoo! It looks like I get the Bronco back tomorrow! What started out as a transmission leak and jumping out of gear turned into a 3 month ordeal. New rebuilt E4OD transmission, new rebuilt Dana 40 limited slip rear axel with new guts, and I will see what else is on the bill that I’ve forgotten. It has been such fun waiting on the sub-contractors.

Sounds exciting. Except for the bill. I can only imagine that the repair cost is high.

I'm sure you will be glad to get the Bronco back, and with a new drivetrain.

Solar panels in Australia. Batteries in Australia and Singapore. Plus the world's longest wire run, underwater. What next? Pipelines to send water, oil, natural gas?

Fifty150,
You weren’t just woofing. The final total was just shy of $5k when all said and done. Now it is just some Nicole and dime stuff, but the rest is good to go.

Day 20. Better, but not 100%. Still suffering from plugged up ears and a persistent cough. I sleep fairly well, with the possibility of waking up in the night to cough hard a couple of times. I wake up in the morning with a really dry mouth and throat no matter how much fluids I drink. I cough deeeep first thing in the morning pretty hard, semi out of control. Then mostly good during the day with my ear(s) plugging and popping. Probably get 1% better each day, maybe 2%? I've been working from home on the laptop since last Monday, so functional. Thanks for asking!
