Avocado @ $0.67. I made a salad with the avocado, cantaloupe, mango, pineapple, and red pepper flakes. Made some of the "on sale" beef on the cast iron griddle. And fries! I'm a sucker for fresh fries. American Fries. Not French.

Got a bunch of Avos the other day at $1 each. As I normally consider them a "buy" if they are < 3 for $5, I considered that a win. 67 cents is even better. Anywho, we had avocado toast for a few days. That's a great breakfast.
I just wish I had fruit on my avocado tree. I read online that the seeds don't grow true to the fruit it comes from. It could produce a different type of avocado, or no fruit at all. I will just have to be content with what little fruit I get from the other trees in the yard. Fig, peach. Plum, apricot, lime, loquat. I have a tangerine that gave me 5 fruits, total, over 10 years. Potato has always grown in my yard. I wonder if I can grow sweet potato in this cold climate.
Just what I need. An avocado plant in my apartment. No way am I going to keep the apartment at 85 degrees all year though. My electric bill would be so high I could buy a hundred avocados with what I would have to pay PG&E.
More crab. They keep coming. Brother in law drops them off in buckets. Today, he showed up with rock crab. 2 red. 1 yellow. They only need to be 4" and the daily limit is 35. The ones he landed were between 5 and 6 inches. I already had a roast tri tip, so I gave him half. Maybe not a fair trade. The tri tip was all that I had at the moment. His kids love it, because it's juicy and tender. They call it "steak".
When my brother-in-law lived down in Leucadia, they had a dog who loved avocados. They would go for walks around the neighborhood and she would retrieve them from all the yards where they were falling off the trees. They just brought along a paper bag to hold however many they wanted.
