Camper package

I towed a travel trailer with a 150 prior to my 250. Major improvement.

I went from an f150 to f350 towing a 7000gvwr camper. It is so much more relaxing experience. The ecoburst could handle 7000lbs and warped the exhaust manifolds.

F-250 or F-350?

Also, check the GAWR specs on the silver certification label on the driver-side B pillar.

Yes. Mines the 6.7 with all the extras to bump the suspension up to the max. Your 250 with no other options sounds like it will come with 4400 or possibly 4800 springs up front and the standard 3 leaf pack back in the rear. Just my guess.

And we live in a relatively flat area, although there are some hills here and there that are short and steep. Not trying to make this a 3/4 vs 1/2 ton argument, but everyone I know and have talked to that pull campers around 6000-7000 lb range with half tons would rather have something bigger. Then, when building out 150's and 250's on the Ford site, I noticed that the price of a 150 came to be the same as a 250 by the time I added all the towing features to it. I will admit that my 250 is way more truck than I need, but I'm happy to have every bit of it, and no way would I have been happy with a 150, or any other half ton, like I am with this one.

Saying all of that, I do have one friend that swears by his F150 with a V8, however, he pulls a small pop up camper and I don't believe he has had anything bigger hooked up to it...
My GMC 1500 6.2 towed very well and just as good as the previous 2500 6.6. The payload difference between the two was only 350 pounds. Came back to a 250 for the future 5'r.

I never had a half ton.... I came from a 3.5L V6 in a Pathfinder with a CVT drive (so I have come a long way). It did ok, but going up most any hill the RPMS's would climb into the 3000-4000 RPM's... and I would start losing speed. Surprisingly though, it did a great job at handling sway and stopping the camper, although, the Pathfinder was the same weight as the camper, and I used a WDH with the sway bar pretty tight. I just knew it wasn't going to cut it though for what my wife and I will be doing in the next couple of years. So I started taking note of folks in campgrounds with campers my size and half tons.... the consensus was they pretty much all wanted something bigger. Chevy, GMC, Dodge, Ford, Toyota, Nissan... all the same. The few people I know with half tons and tow say the same too, save that one friend that pulls the tiny pop up. Maybe they were just in envy of all the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks surrounding them at the campground though... I know I was, lol! But when pricing out a 150 vs 250, it was a pretty easy choice to go with the 250. Like you and others on this thread though, I don't doubt that there are those with half tons that didn't mind it also... I just knew that if I were going to order a new truck, why not get a little more truck than I need, rather than just enough. So I did, and I love it! Me though, based on my past experiences, I would rather have more truck than I would need... for instance, if I was going to get a 5th wheel, I would also want to get a DRW... again, I know others say that is unnecessary (based on the 5th wheel), but it's what's in my mind now. I got my 250 (350 in disguise) though with no plans to ever get a 5th wheel, and even if we upgrade campers, it won't be much bigger/heavier than what we already have. (I say that now... lol!)

Have you taken your truck across scales to see what it actually weighs? I have a similar truck configured as yours on order and am curious what your steer axle weight is. Also, could you post a picture of your 2 door stickers? Thanks

I have not weighed it on scales. Forgot to mention - it is SRW also.

Pics attached.

Thank you for pictures. Nice payload number.
My current '18 CCSB SRW 6.7 has 500lbs less capacity.

Straight, 8 foot Meyer stainless Lot Pro. The stainless is built like the poly plows with a separate steel frame and a stainless moldboard so it is about 100 lbs heavier than the standard steel Lot Pro.

Thank you for pictures.
Interesting that the short bed has 4800# frt GAWR [can you confirm you have camper/plow or heavy service pkg?] and long bed has a 5200# frt GAWR w/ camper pkg though very similar payloads. I was always curious what the impact of the upsized frt springs contributed.

My truck does not have camper, plow, or heavy service front axle packages. I built and ordered for me, and I did not want stiffer springs up front. Philip.

22 F-350 SCSB 7.3 with camper and plow package. I'm definitely looking for some lighter front springs.
