96 F150 4.9 Broken crank position sensor bracket

When tearing down my motor to install a mild cam, I removed the bolts holding the crank position sensor bracket to the timing cover and the cast aluminum bracked snapped in pieces. Does anyone around here have a spare I could buy or know where I could buy one? I've also messaged a local machine shop to tig it back together but I doubt they'll bite given how small a job it is.

It's not really a crank position sensor, it is used to sense misfires. It is a one year only part (1996) for trucks running OBD-II.

I believe Ford refers to it as misfire sensor.

Ah, another of those OBD2 things that only showed up on the '96 trucks. Crazy how much Ford needed to do for the final year of the 4.9. I'm sure in a perfect world they would have ended the 4.9 a year earlier.

In a perfect world, the redesign for the ‘97 model year would have been a better looking truck.

So most likely will need to repair what he has or hope to find a used one?

HA NERD
I almost broke mine when I had to replace it... thank god It was barely able to come off in one piece. had a machine shop drill out the screw stud thing that comes off it. I threaded into it on install. I got lucky tho.

You need to find an OEM One, they are on ebay, you need the PN or good search words. they are out there, not a lot. 1 year only 1 engine only and out of sight out of mind.
