The 4R70W trans, does it run off a separate computer , my 92 ford van has one computer in it right at the firewall ?

 

No, there is one computer to run the engine and transmission. But there are aftermarket stand alone computers that will run the transmission.

 

Thanks for the info on the computer , now I need to find out which aftermarket computer will work in my 92 , and the cost . There is a guy here in town that is a mobile trans mechanic, I would like to remove mind myself and take it to him to save money, but I don t know how much he charges yet, got to give him a call.
