Transmission confusion
Recently bought a 1987 E-150 cargo van with the 4.9l and am having trouble figuring out which transmision I have. Door jam badge says trans code G, which I read was the C6. Yet the transmission pan looks more like what I've seen online for the AOD. The pan is about square with the corners slanted, and a notch in the back end.
Sorry, but I forgot to count the bolts while I was under there.
Need to know for an axle swap and build up, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I doubt you have an AOD but an easy way to tell is if the shift indicator is marked with PRND321 for the AOD or PRND21 for the C6.
Rare that a cargo van would have a 4.9 AND an AOD. Almost garanteed to be a C6.
