We got a lot of rain/ice, then about 4" of snow.

Had to call in 2 days in a row until the plows could do their work.

We were lucky and only rain then snow. The Ice missed us this time!
Happy Happy Hump day Kentucky. Off to the Sammich Factory once again.

Why oh why does it have to snow like this? I have to put the chains in Frankie and cross the creek, go around the bend and skid some logs out tomorrow. Brakes or no brakes it is the only option left. Tried the tractor yesterday but the front just slid around, no way to steer lol. A small dozer would make life so much easier but they cost to damn much!

Hey Wes, back in 2016 we got hit hard down here. Come Sunday they had not touched our road at all and Dawn had to be at work Monday. I called the state garage and asked when they would be through here and they told me my road was not a priority. Dawn called them back and went off on them. Told them that not everyone out here was on welfare and some had jobs lol. They told her that it was not their problem, they would get to when they could. She told them to call her boss at the Boone Tavern and tell him why she couldn't get there. They asked what she did there and she told them she was the senior accountant and personnel manager. He got real quite and then said ok and hung up. Two hours later the plow was rolling through here. We later found out that it seems Berea College has a lot of pull in this area and they didn't want to **** them off! That was her last winter, goddamn I miss her.

Dawn loved working there, it was a dream come true for her. We wanted to move down here from Grant county. When she got that job I quit mine and we moved. I started my own fab shop and we were happy living in our little "shack" on our useless 65 acres of rock cliffs and trees lol. Now it is just me and my gsd Storm, I am still happy just really miss my Dawn, may she rest in peace.

Miss her too. We had some good conversations. talking with her she had a way of making you look back at yourself and how to see faults.

Very true Ryan. I always said she was my circuit breaker. She had a way of keeping me calm and cool headed and helped teach me control. Funny thing is, two days before she passed she came home mad as hell. Seems some guy in a Toyota had nearly ran her and another car off the road three days in row on the same curve/hill. She looked at me and said, "I am going to find out who this ******* is and I am sending you to their house". I asked if she realized what would happen if I she did that and all she said was "I am flipping the breaker off". That guy doesn't know how lucky he got when she died. But she did have a way of being able to talk to people and make them see all sides of a topic and help them come to terms with it.

So far, so good. Roads are cleared here, just cold as crap.

This winter has shown the weakness in apparently EVERY vehicle we owns' battery/ignition systems.

Put the chains on Frankies front tires today and went across the creek and back around the bend. hooked on to a fallen ash about 40' long. She pulled it out of there and up the creek bank and up the steep hill in front of the house and never slipped a tire! This is the first work the old girl has done since 2016 and she performed flawlessly. I forgot how much I love my "not so stock" Bronco. will be going bac in for more next week weather permitting.

January is almost over, and here we are possibly getting more snow.

On a better note, spring is less than 90 days away

We got another 1/2" last night. I don't even bother to take pictures anymore.

That said, I love snow. So, it's been a good month for me.
