Has anybody changed out the rear leaf springs for the 08+? It looks like all you have to do is move the brackets and I’m currently in a position where I have to buy a new springs. Willing to do the conversion if its worth while and not similar to drilling out the fuel feed bolts.
If I can find the thread I’ll post a link. There is a user here who has done it and if I remember he said it was definitely worth it. He used the PMF swap brackets and I’m planning on doing the same come spring time.
Found it https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...onversion.html
Maybe on the next round Henry Ford hooked me up on an offer I could not refuse for the stock 7.3 spring. The part looks “updated” compared to the current part
You need to move the front spring bracket forward. You reuse two of the front bolt holes of the bracket (which will become the rear bolt holes for the bracket). This makes positioning the bracket very easy. I had to get larger bolt for the front spring eye - I bought OEM. I am not sure if that is because I used 2017+ springs or if all the 2011+ springs use that larger front bolt.
I also had to do a little fabrication for the E brake. Mine was likely a bit different as I also installed a 2015 rear axle and used the 2015 brake cables.
I did the conversion with the bed removed. I think there would be a LOT of cursing if the bed was not removed. I also removed the fuel tank.
I have a set of very low miles 2019 F350 platinum springs if anyone is interested. I am in So Cal - shipping is likely not feasible for these.
99-07 uses a 18mm bolt, 08 and newer use a 20mm bolt. I bought the aftermarket brackets so I could do it in stages and not have to worry about messing up the factory brackets. I won’t be removing my bed, it’s a flatbed that weighs a lot more than a factory bed, but I can remove the tool tones that sit right in front of where the front of the spring sits. Still will be dropping my fuel tank so I can clean up some wiring but also give me super easy access to the back of the frame rail.
@Eaglescout94 I'm not sure what you mean by stages. Because the bracket uses the two front holes of the original bracket, i think it needs to be done all at once.
I bought brackets from PMF that allow me to mount the new ones to the frame using new holes then I can remove the original factory bracket when I install the new longer springs.

I just looked it up. Pmf brackets uses new holes. I assumed they captured two of the originals.
This is a great option for folks that don't want to remove the bed, as getting the old ones off can be a chore.
No, it butts against the factory bracket. I provided a link to a user who installed the same brackets on his truck. There’s longer postings done elsewhere by the same user when he went from his lift springs to the 08 style then to the 11 style
