So when I got my truck it didn't have floor mats in it. The driver side floorboard was chewed up from some fluid being on it and eating it. Presumably brake fluid. I've been wanting to replace the whole molded floor but have had more important stuff like injectors and what not that happened first. Anyway I have never had any leaks since I got the truck inside the cab and everything's been dandy. The only leak I have at the moment, or so I thought, was my power steering fluid which wouldn't leak a drop and then once every few months it would just disappear. It'd be full for a month and a half, two months then one day slap empty. I went to get my truck to leave work because we were caught up and had nothing to do so I left early, I saw my floor mats were dirty so I pulled it out to bang it off and my floorboard was wet. I looked up and the brake master cylinder where the rod from the brake pedal goes in is soaked.
I read that It has a staked rod that's non serviceable but can be rebuilt anyway. Have any of you rebuilt them before? Or is it not worth rebuilding? A new one is $380 after core charge which means it'll be about $300 total. Just for the booster.
Not sure, never tried, or even know if theres a kit. I don't have enough time to ever try stuff like rebuilding one :-(
I have one off a parts truck, not pretty, should function fine, but prolly a bit rusty, you can have it if you wanna disect one before you take yours out. I have another good used one in a box on my shelf for a backup already, since my plow trucks has been weeping where yours is for years(dont wanna touch the system, as it is quiet, brakes are good and I can turn my wheels at an idle with ease with a 1,000+ pound plow up in the air)

I cannot turn my wheels at idle at all. I have to be giving it some gas and moving just a smidge to start turning. It has a remand power steering pump in it, I can tell because it's painted black, and there is a leak where the rubber hose connects to the bottom of the pump. But it only leaks once every few months. When I push my brakes and I hear a continuous noise until I let off. Not like a wearing sound or anything but almost like the motor is going under a slight load or something. Same with the power steering. I might have more wrong than I think but I don't know much about it. I'm the same way, I have not wanted to mess with it because I only have to put a little bit of fluid in every few months even though I hate leaks it's a lot of work to pull the power steering pump off for a little rubber hose that's like 6 inches long if that. There is a reseal kit for them and a thread on this website on how to do it. He posted like 90 something pictures and a step by step on how to do each thing. It still seems like a lot of work but, bills just came around, and my blower motor and what not messed up, and I'd rather not dig into my savings or, bring myself too low in what I have in my wallet to buy a brand new booster
I can't imagine how much it would cost to send that booster with how much it probably weighs. I sent out a few packages the other day and got robbed in the process by the lady behind the desk of all people!
This paart truck one has 130k miles no no leaks, I can take the brake master cyl off and fit in a smaller us simple rate for cheap. My guess is it works just fine.

I sure would appreciate it. I could take my time rebuilding that one bit by bit when I can and clean it up and run mine like it is for now. I will of course pay for shipping and what have you. I couldn't bring myself not to paint it. Just like Jason, I've become addicted to painting everything 🤤😂
Thank you sir!👍

Paint would help, my gut feeling is that this unit is good to go without messing with, but I never drove the truck it came from, just idled it(no transmission)

I will take your word for it then! I will paint it and slap er on! I might rebuild mine for kicks and giggles after I put yours on just so I can have a spare and it's only 30 $ for the kit on Amazon and some labor of course. It might be a good learning experience for me!
I sure do appreciate you! Let me know how I can pay you. If you have PayPal or something of the sort. I will talk to my mom and see if she will make you a loaf of Hawaiian banana nut bread if you would like as well. That's not for the shipping but just as a gesture of thanks. Thank you very much!
After doing some research, it seems half the people that rebuild these, end up having them leak as soon as they get done. I don't think I'm going to worry about rebuilding mine. With what you said about your unit I don't think I will have any problems anyway. Thanks again!
I am never one to turn down food, as I really like eating :-)
I wonder if it would survive the transit process though?
Well I just sent some to Sous, Jason, RacinJason, and Fordtrucknoob. It got there with no issues so far. It's up to you. I'm sure my mom would be glad to make it. She's already making like 25 loaves this year 😂
Pop me your address in a PM and I'll talk to my mom and get you some sent out if we can! 😁
