Hi all, in October I ordered a new Lariat 350. Not long after I received a private cash offer for $2500 and I went in to claim it for my order and the dealer said I need a vin to claim it even though it says “order or purchase a new F-150 or Superduty on or before January 3rd 2022.” Any anyone tell me if it will work whenever I get a vin or is there a way for the dealer to add it to my order without a vin? It’s also worth noting I’m friends with several people at the dealership and I don’t think they’re trying to screw me or anything.
I recently found out from my dealer that Ford is honoring the PCO's no matter the date. They've messed up production, and they dont want people pissed. The dealer needs to call their Ford rep.

you have any proof of this? that way its not a he said she said battle? thanks
Is your dealer saying that you have to have a VIN before expiration, or just that they can't apply it till there is a VIN? The offer says order on or before Jan. 3rd. Obviously Ford is aware that if someone were to order close to, or on that expiration date that they would not have a VIN for some time. So there has to be some way to apply the offer to an order without a VIN.
I don't think it's the dealership trying to screw people over, more likely just lacking the necessary information, lack of experience, or in some cases pure laziness. Not wanting to put the time or effort into resolving the issue.

they are saying you have to have a vin before expiration because they say Ford won't honor it past the expiration date. Im sure its probably lack of experience as its a small dealership with little experience ordering trucks.
I know you said you didn't think the dealer was trying to screw you but I would bet they are. In 2019 I got a PCO and the dealer tried to screw me. I ordered a truck in January 2019 and got a PCO in February via a pop up on Ford's site. When I went to pick up the truck and presented the PCO to the Dealer they said they had entered the PCO when I ordered the truck and it was part of my original discount. An obvious lie since I didn't have it then but they wouldn't budge. I took the truck because my 5th wheel had come in and I had to pick it up and the PCO would have expired anyway before I could order a truck from a different dealer.
I ended up being contacted by the general manager because I gave them a scathing review with Ford and he admitted they "screwed up" and sent me a check for the $2500. They just wanted to enter, or already had the PCO in their system, but not give me the discount so they could improve their margins. The dealers know when anyone gets a PCO. I think it is tagged to your name, address, Email or phone number. I later got another PCO, also as a pop up on Ford's site and filled in a buddy's name, address, Email and number. He said his dealer could see it in their system.

you should be able to use it when you pick up your truck. You met the requirements of the offer. Ordered before x date. There is not an expiration date on it only a take delivery or order by date. If the dealer does not allow you to use it when you pick up your vehicle it’s because they don’t want to honor it.
They will have it in their system under your name and address. That all has to be correct for you to use it. What some dealers will do is not tell you about it and then they redeem them or use it for discounts off vehicle. You will sign papers with finance that have all the rebates they are claiming in the vehicle. With PCO you should negotiate best deal then give them the PCO as it is on top of your best deal, but they should bring it up to you as they will be able to see it. Some discounts like first responder, farm bureau the 500.00 discounts cannot used at the same time with a PCO. Best situation is ask them to run a “smart Vincent “ I think it’s called and it will tell you what rebates and offerers that vin has. Then present your PCO offer. Good luck
