okay okay okay hear me out, most of you prolly think I'm in the wrong spot but I'm putting this everywhere. So I own a 1993 f250 with the 7.3 IDI N/A, its been a dream to PSD swap it since I've gotten it. I've just never had the money. Recently i have gotten a PSD out of a Super Duty and am gonna swap it. I know it doesn't have much to do with the OBS side of things but if anyone who has done an idi to psd conversion could help a brother out, it would be great. What should I look out for when doing these swaps? i imagine the frame rail needs a support but again, I don't know. its coming out of a parts truck I'm splitting with a buddy and he needs the body and small things for his Super Duty, the rest of the truck is mine. I heard that the gauges and stuff like that would need to be rewired because they run off of the computer as to where mine do not. but other than the wiring nightmare is there any other things I should look out for/replace before I put it into the truck?
I would look for motor mounts and accessories brackets from a obs and a standalone harness can be built fairly simple. Especially if ur truck is currently a manual but honestly I’d look for a obs psd parts truck to rob all the wiring from. It’s a fairly simple swap if u have correct parts I’ve swapped several trucks currently working on a 95 f150 super cab shortbed swap.

would doing an entire dash swap be worth it to keep the wiring. i know the idi speedo is pinion driven off the axle (from what ive been told), but to save the headach of a complete rewire, a dash swap seems easier. and it is a nicer dash anyway
I definitely don’t blame you for wanting to do the swap but I would highly recommend finding a 94.5-97 psd parts truck and using the complete harness. Honestly if you do that you can have the truck wiring wise completely swapped. On a long Saturday and it’s pretty much a unbolt and bolt in job minus the engine which really isn’t that bad either. If you have access to a good cherry picker.

this. having a 94.5 to 97 PSD truck to steal all the parts off of would be the easiest way to go.
Here’s a truck I’m currently swapping for a customer it’s a f150 had a 5.0 with auto trans soon to be 7.3 with zf5. Engine is a used engine that got a complete reseal along with comp cam 910 valve springs and melling lpop. Also got a new oem balancer and every single gasket replaced.
