thanks Les, the engine is coming out today.
4wd oil pan, I've had it off 4 times. oil is coming from above.
I'm thinking possible cam plug or oil gally plug is leaking.
I'll know by the end of the day.

And its ready to come out. Geof will be over with his tractor to lift it out after dinner.
Hopefully this will end the oil leak.

Today's adventure.

Westcoasthighboy suggested some time ago that it could be the cam plug and he was right.

I'm getting too old for this.

Geof is a good friend. I bought the truck from him and he helped me take out the old 390 and drop the 410 in.
Yes, finally the leak's getting fixed.

Your very welcome Rubiranch, I was nervous from the time it left my hands to yours! It looks much better on your truck than it did setting on my shelf. That little piece does alot to complete the interior.

Looking at your Marti report, I thought it was very interesting that your 79 was ordered out of the Salt Lake DSO, but was manufactured at the Ontario Truck plant. Seems like every truck I’ve seen with a 73 DSO on the door tag (excluding SuperCabs and the like), were built at the San Jose plant.

Maybe that was common, I don’t know. At any rate, it is a heck of a story. Looking at all your pictures, one thing is certain. That truck took you places that most trucks made today could only dream about.

I had a 1989 Bronco that was built in Ontario too.
Maybe it was due to the dealer being a high volume dealer??
The month I bought my my '79 they sold over 600 vehicles that month.
They were the largest Ford dealer west of the Mississippi.

Funny it sat on the lot for 6 months.

I was hoping to have it done today but not until tomorrow.
Underneath this is the greasiest filthy oily pig I have ever worked on.

Hopefully this is the end of the oil leak.

Glad to hear you found the leak! And now you're an expert with the rear main seal

I'll know a little later on today if its fixed. Crossing my fingers.

There are other thugs I'd rather be an expert at.
