Sorry to hear about the leaking rear main again. And heads up, I do not know if you are busy with life/work or tying how to figure out how to handle (cope with) rear main leak #3 or 4? Fordrealdrive offer you the exact part, and exact color you need for your steering column cover for FREE, just cover shipping. So please check in with him when you can. Also check your PM's.

Sorry to hear that. I know from personal experience just how frustrating these Ford engines can be to work on at times….

Thanks, it keeps me from driving it as much as I'd like to.
The engine is coming back out Friday.
I can't take it any longer.

Kind of hard t tell because it just quit ruining but that's how much it drips every time I've driven it bit and shut it off.
Like I mentioned before, a qt every 50 miles.
so the engine is coming back out this weekend.

I still have my warrantee card.

And the two key fobs they gave me.

I worked at the dealer when I bought the truck. Back in the day we paid $100 over dealer cost.
$50 went to the salesman and $50 went for paper handling fees.

The sticker price on the truck was just over $13,000 and I paid tax, license and out the door around $8400.

Two things i could never figure.
1. Why order the XLT package and get a knitted vinyl seat??
And why order a 3/4 ton, 4wd, 4-speed, 400 V8, the Camper Special package and 3.54 gears??

Sold 6/27/13

Marti Reports says sold June 9th but it was actually Friday June 8th.
I took my new truck home Friday June 8th. The salesman, a good friend let my
take his dealer plate because I had forgotten to get the truck insured.
He said, "please don't wreck your new truck".
I took it 4-wheeling that night and the bed corners smacked the corners of the cab
denting the cab and the chrome molding. Damn sway bars

This was my girlfriend Nora, she's why I ended up with a new truck.
This was Saturday, the day after I bought the truck.

At the time I was driving a 1964 Mercury and the old 390 was on its last lip so I
asked my best friend if I could borrow his truck to so I could take her on a picnic,
this was our first date.
My friend had a very nice 77.5 F-250 4wd and he said, "why don't you
just buy your own truck?"
So I did.

Nora and I also got to "break-in" the first 1980 Mustang that came into Utah too.
Once again, "Kenny, be careful and please don't wreck the car".
Don was the one who let my girlfriend, not Nora take the first 1978 Bronco on a test drive,
lent me his dealer plate when I didn't have insurance and let us take the new Mustang.
Lind of a plain Jane Mustang, brown with an inline 6 and an auto trans.
My truck was in the shop getting some warrantee work done.

They started and drove like a million bucks, at least mine did.
400s are dogs. LOL

The crankshaft busted close to 185,000 miles.
The rebuilt one I replaced it with had an RV cam, Weiand intake, Holley 4V,
hedders and dual exhaust and it couldn't touch my 410.
Seems like the truck had about 257,000 miles on it when I sold it.
A guy came all the way from Montana with a trailer.
He mainly wanted the propane conversion and rear Detroit Locker.
Sad day for me.

As long as one understands that the M block engines are not hotrod engines, they're not too bad. My 351M has been serving me pretty well with no issues for over 10 years and I daily mine.

Same here. Mines just desmogged. Enough power for me. I don’t really tow with it, that’s what the 7.3 is for.

I've driven two pickups with 400s in them that ran really good.
One was in a '77 F-250 4wd. The shop I was working in built the engine.

Another one was in a '77 F-150 2wd that the shop built, both ran extremely well, especially being 400s.

Both of them ran better than the other 400s we built using all the same components. Weird.

With a square bore and stroke and canted valve heads I just always felt that they should run better than the do.

I thought I heard some whispered 351M and 400 bashings here.

Sorry to read about the 410 pouring oil out still ... bummer. Maybe you have said, but is it a rear seal leak ... or a pan leak. Is it a car pan, a 2wd pan, or a 4wd pan / oil pickup? Might be oil level just too high is my thinking. I'm not familiar enough with FE pans to do more than ask.

I gotta say, my old "351M" is running great, so good that it self identifies as a 400. It doesn't even leak like it did out from the pan gasket / seals ... and I didn't even replace them during my recent bearing job, just put the pan back over undamaged old still glued in place 1992 gasket / seals. I know ... "go figure" ... and I even have 7 quarts in it.

Really, I know your leak is frustrating, I do wish you well in chasing it to a stop.

I've owned a few older British motorcycles with vertical crank case seams, etc. I had a close buddy, my Sgt. He rode Harleys and would taunt me if he saw a drop of oil on the ground under my Triumph. I got into the habit of just replying "Thank you, ... you saved me checking because as long as it leaks, it has oil" ... then I'd check my oil when he was away getting a snack, etc.

Take Care ............ Les
