It looks like the spare had wire soldered to it. May the previous owner used it for something else.

I got my new heater core today but wont be able to install it until the weekend.

Look what else I got. Finally.
Thank you soo much Jon, AKA moneypit ford.
Its been a long time coming. Been looking for some since I bought the truck.

These Selectro hubs just don't cut it for me.

This POS antenna has always bothered me since I bought the truck too.

So I ordered a new one and I don't even have a radio that works.
Its going to enhance the natural beauty of my truck.

My truck has two of those antennas, IDK why. My radio just quit. It’s some kind of vintage look modern radio, guess I’ll start by getting out the volt meter.

I've seen dual stock antennas installed just because the owner wanted symmetry. And whether they worked better as duals or not, they would have installed dual CB antennas as well, for the same reason.
Fortunately dual CB antennas do have some advantages if done correctly. Not sure about AM/FM antennas though. Or how you would wire them up?

I know the factory speaker is not connected to the radio so I have no idea if the radio works or not.
At some point down the riad I will take it to the people who have done my car audio stuff for years and
have them install a nice AM/FM CD player and some nice speakers.
Until then I'll just listen the the truck.

I’m sure yours sounds better than my 351M with California exhaust still on it. Another thing on the list……

What makes it a California exhaust? Never heard of it before.
Are you sure they used different mufflers between the 49-state and CA-spec trucks? I remember seeing "low-tone" exhaust on the window stickers, and probably other names as well. Just didn't know it was a CA thing...
Or, if yours is the original exhaust as installed at the factory, there could be other reasons for it sounding less than desirable to you.

The more I think about it the more I think I saw one.
Maybe added for aesthetics during the PDI.

He might have just meant that the original single exhaust doesn't sound as good
as a nice dual exhaust.

My truck was ordered with a "Reduced Noise Exhaust System" I have never heard of that before.
I'm pretty sure that by the time I bought it the factory exhaust had been replaced, maybe even twice.
Back in the old days exhaust systems never lasted like they do today.

Here's my single exhaust when I first started my 410.

And here it is at an idle.
I think for single exhaust it sounded pretty good.

I’m not sure at all. I know the truck was made in San Jose in 77. It has/had a lot of emissions devices and it sure has what looks like a catalytic converter. I think they were mandated in 75 in California.
