I've seen dual stock antennas installed just because the owner wanted symmetry. And whether they worked better as duals or not, they would have installed dual CB antennas as well, for the same reason.
Fortunately dual CB antennas do have some advantages if done correctly. Not sure about AM/FM antennas though. Or how you would wire them up?

At some point down the riad I will take it to the people who have done my car audio stuff for years and
have them install a nice AM/FM CD player and some nice speakers.
Until then I'll just listen the the truck.

What makes it a California exhaust? Never heard of it before.
Are you sure they used different mufflers between the 49-state and CA-spec trucks? I remember seeing "low-tone" exhaust on the window stickers, and probably other names as well. Just didn't know it was a CA thing...
Or, if yours is the original exhaust as installed at the factory, there could be other reasons for it sounding less than desirable to you.

as a nice dual exhaust.
My truck was ordered with a "Reduced Noise Exhaust System" I have never heard of that before.
I'm pretty sure that by the time I bought it the factory exhaust had been replaced, maybe even twice.
Back in the old days exhaust systems never lasted like they do today.
I think for single exhaust it sounded pretty good.
