My 1976 F-250
#781
These are my two current modes of transportation. I go into town at least 6 times a week.
Mostly to have breakfast or lunch with friends.
The old truck requires premium fuel and a $5 bottle of lead substitute and is averaging 8.5 mpg.
I've been taking the truck nearly every day.
I drove the car into town today and filled it with gas while I was there.
I crunched the numbers and it costs $400/month more to drive the truck into town so,
I'm going to start driving the cat a lot more.

Well good to see things are moving along, but how are YOU doing? Are you still following doc orders? Getting mended up?
I am sorry it is so cold there, I wore shorts town today, (and a T shirt, I am not a streaker perv), since it is 82* out right now. But I am watching the weather since we live on the border of tornado alley. It is building up as I type this. We lucked out and the last one went south of us and hit Little Rock.
What I came home to one time, I was in the Ukraine back in 2014 and the wife sent me this pic. I was on a plane that day.
The carport went up and down a few times, to bend the drip rail DOWN.

New vehicles are aery to repair due to parts availability, older vehicles not soo much. That huts to even look at.
Me? I'm doing great. Things are healing great and faster than expected.
My next check with the surgeon and my next treatment is next week and I'm looking forward to both..

Glad to hear you are getting along with all the big life events. Surgery and wreck. At least if you had a big ol scar, you would not see it on a daily basis. Lol Should of got some hair plugs, but then your shampoo bill would go up. And that would cut into Ford truck parts $. Besides "thin" is more aeromantic.

We have a '01 Mercury, it's carried us all across the US a time or several, one trip it carried us 21 Days & 7,945 Miles & Used 311.665 Gallons of 87 Octane Averaging 25.5 (25.492) Miles Per Gallon Averaging 378.3 (378.333) Miles Per Day. That was a trip saw us pass your way. I hate to think what my old '77 would have took ..... or if we would have been crippled just from the ride.. I can see 11-12 mpg and it's OK with regular.
I hunted for this one for a long time. I bought it two years ago and it really was owned by an elderly lady that had bought it new and only had it serviced at the dealership that she bought it from new.
Low mileage clean one owner.
I love the car. I did have a "world class car audio system" installed.
I had a Sony in-dash DVD/receiver, (TV), Audison sub-woofer and speakers, Focal speakers all driven by an ARC 5-channel amp.
I do love music.

This Carly Simon DVD is what started the whole in car TV saga.
The high end stereos started back in 2012 when I had the first one installed in my '89 LX 5.0.
I sold the Misting back in 2013 with 325,000 nukes on it when I bought my Chevy PU that I crashed.
Another vehicle I regret selling.
I bought my Chevy PU back in June 2013.
I had a Sony TV installed, 8 Hertz speakers, a custom Pioneer 8" sub and two JL Audio amps.
This small subwoofer was designed for vehicle with small interiors, like a regular cab PU.
When I can I will definitely be upgrading the broken factory radio in my '76 F-250.
WOW!! What a drift off topic!!

Wife went nuts over the Blue "Fox". We had a silver '86 as a speciail enforcement car, it was shared among us. Had a red '82,too but it was just a 4 speed, but it would hit 110 in 3rd. Caught some surprised folk in both. I think the carbureted '82 had been breathed on in some shop, it had a rumpity rump cam and was rich enough your eyes would water if idled long. but the '86 6 spd was all OEM,, idled smooth, but was TPI and it would git.

My Fox was hands down best car I ever owned.
When I sold it with 325,000 miles on it the only gaskets that didn't come from the factory were the water pump and thermostat gaskets.
Never had a valve cover off it, intake or anything on the engine ever touched.
I had the trans rebuilt at 186,000 and the mechanic told it it was very clean for 86,000 miles.
I'm not sure that he really believed me that it was 186,000 mile.
I got better than 28 mpg on several long trips like from SLC to Denver.
My brother special ordered it new and sold it to me right after it rolled over 100,000 miles.
It was still like a brand new car. I do miss this one too.

I had two fox body cars. '88 Turbo Coupe and "82 Mustang GT. The Thunderchicken was fantastic. Sport car, luxury car and economy car all rolled into one. I got as high as 46-MPG with it. Dependable as it could get. I still have the "82 GT and it will be the next project when the F150 is done. I ordered it new with 21 of 23 possible options. It only has 3,600-miles on it and yes, it will peg the speedo in third. Sorry to hijack your thread but this may be the only way to get your address to send the cigarette lighter..

Another FixOrRepairDaily kind of day. Just little petty stuff.
I've put a few miles on the truck since installing the new intake manifold and I'm happy to report than I'm very pleased with how well it runs.
I've never installed just a new performance intake manifold before, its always been a combo of multiple new components.
Huge improvement in over all pulling power and not just at WOT. It pulls smoother and with less lag from just off adle all across the power band.
And of course, its improved WOT performance too.
New valve stem seals took care of the occasional smoking on decal and the oil consumption.
This 410 has worked out a lot better than I had hoped. Its exceeded all of my expectations.
Thank you Hedman, Edelbrock, Holley and Flowmaster and of course, Geof for selling me the old truck in the first place.
I would gladly do it again.
I still need a bigger carburetor.

Funny how Fords go. I owned a few fox body mustangs in my day back when I was a Ford tech. 82 Mustang GT with swapped in BorgWarner T5 transimission and changed out stock 2 barrel manifold for single plane aluminum manifold and Holley 4 barrel. Fun fact: the 82 Mustang GT used a 351 Windsor marine camshaft so firing order was different compared to regular 5.0 motors. I also added headers and that car just plain got up and went...X
A few years later, someone spotted my car on the lot at the Ford dealership where I worked and insisted on buying it. I gave in and sold it. Next purchase was a 1990 Mustang LX with the 5.0 Liter and 5 speed of course. Hatchback and only mod was swapping out the highway 2:73 gear for a much more spirited 3:55. Loved that car and the fuel injected 5.0 Liter engine was bullet proof but gave it up to the first wife when we went our separate ways....
Only issue with those 5.0 liter Mustangs is that when the rear end kicked out, things could get sideways (and usually did...) in a big way and fast... My brother had a 89 5.0 notchback which he bought new and I think it lasted all of 6 months before being wrapped around a hydro pole... Fortunately he and his buddy survived that wreck. I also had a few close calls with my Mustangs but fortunately I was lucky and managed to survive. Now I drive my old F350 around like an old man and am happy to just do the speed limit (although on occasion, I like to open it up just for the fun of watching the fuel gauge drop like a stone..) I definitely miss those old fox body Mustangs...
