When you take out the Air Intake Heater relay, what needs done with all the extra wires?
I understand what logic must be done to activate the relay from the truck's computer, since I never use the parking brake the computer should never try to turn on the relay and no codes would be thrown. So, what should be done with the extra wires? I get that one of the wires needs a resistor wired in, just to make sure the DTC is never thrown, and that a ground can be eliminated. But what should, or can, be done with the supply power wire? Has anyone eliminated it entirely from the harness?
I removed the wires from AIH to relay and ground but left the supply wire going to the relay in place. I didn’t see an easy way to remove without causing a loose hot wire needing taped up so figured the relay was a safe ending point.
Sorry, can’t help you on the resistor side of things. It just throws a soft code on my truck so I don’t worry about it.
I was looking at the body builder's guide for information about the Aux. Idle Control plug that @aawlberninf350 mentioned, and I saw two of the wires are a CAN + and CAN - line. Does anybody know if there is information available about Ford's CAN system on our trucks?
So purchased this relay box / fuse holder for the truck. I'm going to use it to do the headlight upgrade that was recommended.
It included 6 relays, 6 fuses, and all the roll crimp connectors for $30; I think I got a good deal out of the buy.
I will use one of the relay slots for the 2Lo mod that Sous has described in a separate post. Then the other three relays will be available for future upgrades.
