Good morning Fellas! So last night I get a call from one of my crew members and says that our 6.0 kept shutting off on him. He had it running for 5 hrs at idle as they were drilling under ground. He got it running but could not go faster than 50mph on the highway. Scanned it this morning and the only code I have is U0306. Test drove and only goes about 50mph with a load in the rear. I cant seem to find a diagnostic check list for that code. It wont even come out on alldata. My battery voltage is good. Ficm is showing 48V ,12 ,12. I replaced this ficm back in may so its under warranty. Could My PCM be messed up?
I searched on the forum and saw a thread back and July but there was no diagnostic steps or a solution or fix. Sorry if this is another repeat!
From what I found that is a common code when replacing the FICM. Supposedly not an issue. It may have been there since the swap. Trouble light on? What are you scanning with?
No smoke. I drove it as well and it did the same to me. Was going 70mph and then it started to slow down with the pedal to the floor. HPOP was still in the mid 2000 range. Pulled over and it shut off. Wouldnt start for another 4 mins. I popped the hood, I turned ignition on and noticed my fuel psi gauge on the filter was still saying zero until I cranked it for 3 seconds I saw the gauge rise and it started. So im thinking rail pump issue?
How many miles on the hfcm? Can u read FP while driving?
No idea how many miles. I dont know if the previous mechanic replaced. I know he loved carquest parts. My fuel psi gauge is on the fuel filter housing so no...Might have to transfer
IIRC, Jack had a poll on hfcm failures. Somewhere around 180k??? I recently pulled my cover and remove the goo. May b worth a look, especially if you have the fuel heater. Great thread below on how to put the screws/bolts back in.
The U0306 just means the programming in the FICM doesn't match what the PCM is looking for. Do you have a tune in the FICM? If so, that's what is throwing that code. B.
