So, heading to work today i flashed a buddy of mine by pulling back on the multifunction switch. And the truck stalled until i released it. Odd... tried it again, same thing.
Then I got to work and shut the truck off, after first shift left i went to move it and no crank with the key.
So what are the educated guesses... ignition switch? I suppose the two could be totally unrelated as well.
The ground cable goes to the engine block.
If it just goes to the frame then that is wrong.
The ground cable does have a center lug bolted to the frame for trailer towing.

Yes....and no. I will see if i can get a picture later, but mine goes from the negative down to the frame and over to the block. And it ia all one cable with a section of the cover cut away . Hard to explain picture would be better.
Edit the circled piece was not grounded well
On my truck the circled part the OP pictured was attached to a bracket that holds down the fueltank vent line held down by a 10mm bolt.It grounded the frame and engine together through one wire.
If the OP fixed the problem by cleaning that ground up that sounds to me like he needs to make sure all the ground points are good and clean.
My truck is a lil older but the self biting ground straps that go from the cab pinch points to the frame where the cab mounts are also the braided grounding strap that goes from the firewall to the intake manifold were all rusted corroded oxidized and in poor shape. So was the braided one coming from the PCM going to the drivers side fender.
I bought and installed those self gripping grounding straps and cleaned up and re-terminated the fender ground for the PCM . I also added what I call a grounding root which kinda looks like and resembles the root system of a tree.
I used the engine block as the main grounding point direct from the battery where two more attachments were attached at the engine block.
For the other two points added at the engine block one ground wire went to the frame where the fueltank vent tube bracket screws to but all cleaned up and the other ground wire is routed back and attached to the top bolt on the starter
I also have a couple grounding wires going direct from the battery negative to the core support negative post and from the drivers fender grounding attachment I made going to the back of the drivers side head. Then I attached a small jumper ground going from the back of the passenger side head to the firewall.
