Well here we go again...NONE of the above parts were the issue. Installed the new IDM and nothing. I had the thought that maybe the front tank was empty and the sending unit was broken or unplugged so I crawled under the truck to tap on the tank and VIOLA! The front fuel tank was crumpled like a soda can. Turns out that the vent is stuck or blocked and a sudden change in temperature caused it to cave in. Switched to the rear tank and after about 5 min of cranking (and almost killing the batteries) it limped to a start, ran rough for a few seconds and then smoothed out. Truck is running perfectly now and I am returning the $600 IDM. Hopefully this will help someone else with similar issues. A huge SMH moment!
All hitched up and ready to go. I am sending the IDM back since it was $600 and I found a local parts supplier that has them for $230. Also still planning on new injectors, intercooler and electric fuel system in January.
The tank thing happened one time before so you'd think I would have checked that first. I thought I vented it correctly but apparently not. I ordered new marine grade tank vents that should work perfectly. That's what happens when you start modifying these trucks too much.
