Dropped my son off at school this morning and driving back, the truck started running really rough and hardly any power. Limped it home and did a code scan (despite no CEL) and found the glow plug harness code P1395 & P1396. In all honesty I did get a CEL a while back and both codes came up. I cleared it since the truck was running well but think now it is time to replace them both.
My question is what is the typical lifespan of these? I just had them replaced maybe 20K ago. I live in a temperate climate and it only gets down in the 30s a couple days per year. Most winter mornings it's around 45-50 when I start the truck so the glow plugs aren't being overworked.

Any input would be great. Going to replace the harnesses tomorrow.
Relay and plugs are new. Harness was installed by my old mechanic but no idea what brand he used. He did say it came from China so there's that. GP's and relay going bad wouldn't cause it to idle or run bad that's why I am sure it's the harness as it runs the injectors as well. I already have the new parts (bought from NAPA this time) so we will see how it goes. Not looking forward to those hard-to-reach bolts in the back.
The valve covers and wiring under them. Two of the pigtails on the outside were broken so I replaced them both and replaced the gaskets and wiring under the valve covers. I took a break and going back in a min to tighten them all down. I will let y'all know if it fixes the problem...fingers crossed because we leave for a week-long camping trip on Friday and I need the beast to tow my 36' 5th wheel.
I used Mahle/Alliant stuff when I replaced all mine years ago. Lots of guys like to go to the single connector Superduty one, that is up to you. Apparently the wiring is larger, but if the wiring in the harness is still smaller...what is the point?
which is exactly how my truck is running. I ordered a new IDM through NAPA auto parts (they are starting to call me by my first name when I come in) and it will be here tomorrow around 3pm. Fingers crossed that is the issue because I am running out of ideas. Truck has just over 300K miles so this could be the issue. Truck is getting all new injectors and an electronic fuel system in January so I need to limp it along until then. I will keep everyone posted.
From what I understand once the IDM goes bad, the truck runs terrible and just keeps getting worse. I ordered the new one and will install it later today.
Ok small update but NAPA can't get the part in until Saturday and I need it at the absolute latest tomorrow (Thursday). I called everyone in the US and the only place that has them in stock and can overnight it to me is Riffraff Diesel. Ordered and waiting on the part. If this doesn't fix it then our trip is shot. I love my truck but a new one is looking mighty tempting right now...

I am REALLY hoping this is the problem as I am leaving Friday and this is my last hope. I can't drive it anywhere to have it worked on and my main mechanic is about an hour away. I checked the ICP sensor and it is good so any other ideas would be helpful.
