Hi i have a 2005 ford f250 xlt. Manufactured date 05/05. I just replaced the turbo and the y pipe also the egr uppipe. I noticed the new uppipe did not have a scoop inside. Tho old one was cracked and did have the scoop inside. I did not do a delete. Would it cause any issues without doing the egr delete.

Reason: More information
Did the old one have a scoop? I ask because if I remember correctly, there are 2 part numbers for the 05. The cut off date was around 11/4/04 or so. Before that date no scoop, after scoop.

Im sorry. Yes the old one did have the scoop in it. I replaced it be ause the whole uppipe had a crack completely around it. Im in California so i just installed the new uppipe and left egr open. I cant find any info on this. Thank you for your reply.
Would it drive normal with the scoop out and egr still in place. I have a edge attitude tuner. If that helps. I cant find anything on this. I would think it would be common. I ordered the pipe and it didnt say anything about having to do a delete. If anyone can help i would appreciate it. Thank you
Do I have to block off the egr cooler for the uppipe. Im surprised this is such a uncommon problem. I figured since i bought a uppipe nit knowing about the scoop it would go on and run normal.
Ok thank you for responding. I started it up and it sounds good and idles perfect but when i give it gas it bogs out almost right away. It barley has any response.anyone know what would cause this.
Is it throwing codes? Are you sure you have sufficient fuel pressure? Maybe check by removing the fuel regulator cap and seeing how fast it fills with the key on. Doesn't sound like a turbo or up pipe issue. Monitor the data while trying to rev to see what changes. Maybe the smart guys can tell you which PIDs to monitor.
I assume the bogging is happening with the engine cold? Typically the EGR valve won't open until the coolant hit ~160F so it shouldn't even be in play until then. I would guess you have a leak in the up-pipe somewhere.
Regarding the original question on the scoop, it would reduce the amount of EGR flow. That might throw off the air/fuel calculations and could trigger a Check Engine light if the IAT2 temp doesn't rise enough.
I've never felt that scoop was doing anything anyway. I think they just deleted it.
You're issues are very likely not associated with the deletion of scoop. Could a leak in that up pipe cause the bogging down?
They added the scoop in 05 when they deleted the intake throttle body so it may affect EGR flow. I'd try it and see if it sets a check engine light. I would say the least amount of EGR you put back into the engine the better...
