Part Identification and mounting location
I dont remember what this is or where it connects. Can anyone identify?

That is the ignition coil mounted to a bracket. The small cylinder with the single wire is the radio capacitor. It is designed to prevent noise from the ignition when listening to AM.

Maybe I haven’t had enough coffee yet but I think your user name is very appropriate if you do not recognize the ignition coil.

My 7.3 idi has a issue with the am radio whining with engine rpm. Would it be that capacitor, granted I don't have ignition sys like a gasser.

Not likely, but could be caused by an alternator with a bad diode that is triggering an AC ripple on the alternator output.
